What kind of information do you collect?

The only personal information we will request from you at our website is your e-mail address. We do not collect names, addresses, telephone numbers, or other personal information that might compromise your privacy. You may of course provide this type of information on a voluntary basis through an online form or e-mail message, or when sending a donation through postal mail. Any such personal information would be kept confidential, and would only be released with your explicit consent.

What about donations?

When you make a donation to Shape Up America!, you may choose either to donate online through PayPal or to send us a check directly through postal mail. If you choose to donate through PayPal, all credit/debit card information and any other information you provide during this process will be handled and stored entirely by PayPal, in accordance with its User Agreement (available at http://www.paypal.com). Do you keep e-mail addresses used to subscribe to your newsletter?

Subscriptions to the Shape Up America! Newsletter are processed by our newsletter service provider, Constant Contact Inc. Operating a newsletter requires us to keep a database of subscriber e-mail addresses, however this is restricted solely to newsletter use and we never sell, rent, or share your address with a third party for non-newsletter purposes. Likewise, Constant Contact is bound by similar restrictions as defined in their Privacy Statement and Anti-Spam Policy (available at http://www.constantcontact.com). Please be aware that our newsletter is strictly an “opt-in” service. That is, each subscriber must agree to receive the newsletter before their subscription can begin. Once a subscription has started, it may be cancelled by the subscriber at any time.

Do you have links to external sites?

We place links to our sponsors’ sites in clearly delineated “sponsor” areas of our site, and we also have links to affiliates and other non-profit organizations in well-marked areas. Please keep in mind once you leave our site you will no longer be covered by our privacy policy, and any information you provide on another site is subject to their policies.

You may of course choose to disable cookies or other web customization features of your browser, but you will find that some features of our site are consequently unavailable.

What kinds of information do you collect through server logs?

Our log files collect information in accordance with industry standards, including Internet protocol (IP) addresses, platform/browser types, referring pages, and timestamps. We also collect information on server errors and internal site navigation. This information is collected in order to analyze aggregate trends such as site demographics, page visit frequency, and general usability. None of this information is used to personally identify individual visitors to our site.

Do you track visitors to your website?

This information is used to help improve our site, and we do not attempt to keep track of individual visitors. After you leave our site, no attempt is made to track or monitor your movements.

Legal Compliance

Although we will make every effort to protect your privacy, there are instances where we may be required by law to release information to law enforcement entities. Examples would include subpoenas, court orders, search warrants or other law enforcement requests.
