An internationally renowned expert in the field of nutritional
biochemistry and clinical nutrition, Dr. Blackburn serves as Associate
Professor of Surgery at the Harvard Medical School and Director
of Nutrition Services at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA.
He is also Chief of the Nutrition/Metabolism Laboratory at the
Cancer Research Institute and Director of the Center for Study
of Nutrition and Medicine, both of which are affiliated with Deaconess
Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Blackburn has directed special attention for more than 17 years of his medical career to the assessment and treatment of the disease of obesity and has been active in many professional societies. Dr. Blackburn and his laboratory have a priority to educate both the medical profession and the public on issues of nutrition and health. He has trained over 100 fellows in clinical nutrition and published widely on various aspects of nutrition, medicine, metabolism, with over 350 publications to date.
