Dr. Choban received her undergraduate degree from Depauw University in Indiana.
After obtaining an M.S. at Columbia University, she began medical
training at Case Western Reserve University
in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated with honors. Dr. Choban
completed a nutrition fellowship at VA Medical Hospital in Hampton,
Virginia, where she focused on the mechanisms of weight loss following
the surgical treatment of obesity. Dr. Choban is on the faculty at Ohio
State University as an Adjunct Associate professor in the Department
of Human Nutrition and Food Management. She currently provides surgical
treatment of obesity and continues clinical research in the area of bariatric
surgery as a member of Bariatric Treatment Centers® Columbus, Ohio Facility.
She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified by the
American Board of Surgery with special certification in Surgical Critical Care as a
Nutrition Support Physician. She is an active member of many regional professional
organizations in surgery, nutrition, and obesity, including the American Society
for Clinical Nutrition, the American Society of Parental and Enteral Nutrition,
and the North American Association for the Study of Obesity.
