It's important to eat a wide variety
of foods from each of the following five food
groups every day That's because each group provides
specific nutrients that are necessary for good health.
For example, look to the:
BREAD GROUP
for complex carbohydrates, B vitamins and fiber.
VEGETABLE GROUP
for vitamin A, vitamin C, folate and fiber.
FRUIT GROUP
for vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, folate and fiber.
MILK GROUP
for calcium, protein, vitamin A and vitamin D.
MEAT GROUP
for iron, zinc, B vitamins and protein.
