Should I lose weight or prevent further weight gain?

You and your doctor are now ready to take a look at all of the information you’ve collected so far and determine:

• Your health risk.

• Any medical or other conditions that might exclude you from losing weight, either temporarily or permanently.

• Your interest in and readiness for weight loss.

You are now ready to determine which strategy, weight loss or prevention of weight gain, is right for you.

As with any kind of medical treatment, you are the one who must decide which option is best for you. You can decline treatment of any kind. Whatever you decide, you need to understand all of the possible consequences of treatment so you can make an informed decision. Your doctor can help you with this.
