What weight-loss treatments are available?

Although weight-loss treatments may differ, they are all based on the same idea: to lose weight, you must consistently use more calories (energy) than you eat in the form of food. You can do this by:

• Paying attention to your diet. This means changing both the quality and quantity of the foods you eat.

• Increasing your physical activity.

OR

• Paying attention to your diet and increasing your physical activity.

There are also other, higher-risk treatment options that can benefit the more obese person. These options include drugs and/or surgery.
