What can I do to help myself succeed?

Support is a key to successful weight maintenance. Some people fail to maintain the weight they’ve lost because they stop using their self-help materials or lose contact with their programs or service providers.

If you have lost weight as part of a structured program, it may be very important for you to continue to attend the program. Consider becoming a member of any maintenance support group offered by your program.

If you have lost weight through self-help or if you simply wish to prevent weight gain, you may be able to take advantage of support services offered by the national organizations like Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) or Overeaters Anonymous (OA).

You could also consider starting your own support group! Ask your doctor if s/he can recommend other patients who may be interested in forming such a group. Tops or OA may also be willing to help you form a support group.
