How can I make each visit count?

Be sure to ask any questions and share any concerns you have about your health risk and/or progress. To make sure you address them all, jot them down on paper beforehand and bring them to the examining room. (See “Notes and Questions for My Physician” in Appendix X.)

Don’t be afraid to seek positive comments about your progress. Don’t be shy about requesting recognition of the success you have had losing weight or preventing further weight gain! Your doctor is your partner, and you should help him or her give you the encouragement and support you may need and deserve.

Part IV

What happens next?

How do I select a target BMI?

How do I create an energy balance?

What lifestyle changes do I need?

What can I do to help myself succeed?

Should I still continue to see my doctor?

How can I make each visit count?
