Sedentary means sitting for the major portion of the day, working at a desk or at home. Leisure-time activities of a sedentary nature are playing computer games, surfing the Internet, and/or watching television. 65% of Americans fall within the sedentary to moderate range.

Light to Moderate refers to sustained, rhythmic muscular movement at an intensity below the level required for improving or maintaining heart fitness. Although this activity level will not improve heart fitness, it will burn calories, which leads to a positive effect on weight. Examples of this level include low-intensity walking, swimming and cycling, as well as dancing, gardening, yardwork, and games.
